North Shore Strong Ministry
Established August 24, 2015

History: North Shore Strong (NSS) was established to meet immediate and long term needs of individuals and families from Chelan County impacted by the horrific fires during the summer of 2015. Our partner for this effort is Chelan Valley Hope (CVH), a local non-profit organization that provides assistance, advocacy and referral service to under-resourced families and individuals throughout the Greater Chelan Valley.

At our first meeting twenty-five church members were in attendance. The energy was high as everyone wanted to help. Procedures were developed and personnel volunteered for various duties. We were up and running.

Mission: Develop a church ministry that can respond to the needs of individuals and families facing struggles that are over-whelming. Work with organizations and agencies in the Chelan Valley as they respond to emergencies, tragedies and disasters.

In order to make North Shore Strong a permanent ministry, we are in need of several positions:

  • Ministry Leader and an Assistant Ministry Leader

  • Assignment Manager and Assistant Assignment Manager

  • Two - KOZI Radio 2nd Cup Team

  • Unlimited North Shore Strong Representatives

Current Endeavor: Clients at CVH go through an intake process and are added to the CVH database. Along with personal information a needs list is developed. This information is sent to NSS’s Assignment Manager. The information is distributed via a NSS group email system asking for a volunteer. The first person responding takes the assignment. They will fill the needs list by shopping at local stores or securing donations. A NSS volunteer will deliver the items as instructed by CVH.  Emotional and spiritual support is offered as appropriate.

KOZI Radio Team: Our KOZI Radio 2nd Cup team will make special needs (possible items to donate and request for labor) from CVH client know on KOZI’s 2nd Cup of Coffee program. Our 2nd Cup team will take calls from KOZI listeners and arrange pickup and delivery. Once a need has been met our 2nd Cup team will call KOZI and have the item removed from their request database.

Our current goal is to work thru CVH for the needs related to the recent fires. Once this current project/need is complete, North Shore Strong will remain in force, refine our processes  and start preparing for the next challenge.
