wITNESS MONGOLIA

Dear Friends, I trust all is well with you and also your new year in 2019. Allow me to bring you up to date: 2018 has been a year of challenge, change and new beginnings. Lots of preparations, building relationships, sharing good news, starting up new churches and following up with new believers. God has shown me clearly that He has called me for this; with City Vision Church of Witness Mongolia, 80-100 people have heard the gospel of Jesus. 8 of these received Christ and 15-20 are attending and bringing their families to church happily. Now I realized why Jesus said that the harvest is plentiful and the workers are few. Because if we submit ourselves to his calling, he fights and works before us. This would not have been possible with all of you my friends; your prayers, support, and some of your participation. ALPHA COURSE was a 10 week evangelical program that we held between March-May (which had 15 attendees) and again in Oct-Dec (which had 35 attendees). Between the two groups, 38 finished very successfully, and all of them heard about who Jesus is, why he died for us, and what is God`s love. 20 of them are now attending City Vision Church, and 8 of those received Christ. One of them, named Baterdene, was baptized December 2018, outside in a frozen river during our Men`s winter retreat. 5 other people very much wanted to be baptized but needed to wait until summer for the river to melt. Several doctors from Mental and Burn hospitals attended this Alpha Course 10 weeks evangelical program as well, due to my wife Haka’s medical ministry. They were much more open to doing this than before and they were invited to do ministry among patients. This is friendship evangelism. We used to do many one-time evangelist events, and it worked, but God has been calling us towards friendship evangelism through long term relationship.

BATERDENE is a 43 year old man, married with 4 children. He visited our church with his whole family. Before he came to the Lord and gave his life to Christ he used go to the Buddhist Lhama and sometimes a Shaman. He spent lots of money for Shaman idols, talismans, and sacrifices. But after taking the Alpha Course and being baptized, he decided to completely destroy and burn all Buddhist and Shaman items from his home. He is very faithful to Jesus. Unfortunately, his wife Gerelee did not have as strong of a faith as her husband and was afraid that to destroy all of these things would mean that something bad will happen to their life. Please pray for Baterdene and Gerelee to keep their faith in Christ strong. My daughter Tungana is trying to witness to their daughter, and from her she is learning how to bake, serve people, and how to obey her parents.

CHRISTIAN MEN`S WINTER RETREAT we organized for a second time 50 miles away from town in the countryside that lasted for 3 days. We slept outside in tents and every morning we had worship and devotions. In the afternoon of the first day we baptized men in the frozen, icy river, and then every day after that, all of the men swam in that freezing river. Keeping in mind that the outside temperatures were -15F every day! It was very challenging, but it was also a good time for equipping each other and sharing our experiences together. Last year I led this City Vision Church retreat alone, but this time there were 6 of us from CVC. As already mentioned, Baterdene decided to follow Christ and committed himself by being baptized in this icy cold river. This is 155 men of God from 20 different churches nationwide. This was a very valuable time for all of these men of God equipping, encouraging and sharing with each other’s own experiences.

I needed to come to the US this time for a review meeting with our Board of Directors from Illyricum Movement/Witness Mongolia in Poulsbo, WA (January 25-27). I decided to bring my whole family because they participated a lot for this church planting project. My daughter Tungana helped Haka bake lots of cakes and with leading the children’s Sunday school and youth ministries. My oldest son Tengisee plays the drums in the church every Sunday and has helped me a lot with the church equipment, as has my youngest son, Megi. They are able to be on this extended trip with me as they are off on school break which is from the end of Dec until the beginning of Feb. I want to say thank you so much for my dear friends who have made this trip possible for my whole family. Now I was just thinking...if there was not a vision, calling and commitment to church planting, how would these over 80 people in Mongolia have heard the gospel of Jesus? Would 8 of those people have received Christ? Would 3 of those new believers have been baptized? Thank God for His great vision for church planting. Haka and I had the great privilege of participating in this vision, but all you have too! Thank you so much for your prayer and financial support. Let`s continue to do what we did these last few years. Many of you may never get to meet those who believed in Jesus through our ministry...but once in heaven, I believe our Lord Jesus will finally introduce you to each other.

2018 goal was “Year of building relationships with each other”, But 2019 goal is “Year of knowing our God” Philippians 3:8-9
